*** Duke Ellington - New York New York - New Sealed Denmark CD - 2008 set with 19 previously unreleased late period recordings, including a number with Wild Bill Davis on organ. Flute, Soft, RTM, Sophisticated Lady, I Got It Bad, Mood Indigo, Big Luv, Second Line & lots more. Storyville 84022. $5.00

*** Duke Ellington - Up In Duke's Workshop (Sealed) - Features 1969-72 previously unreleased Pablo vault material. Musicians include Cat Anderson Lawrence Brown, harry Carney, mercer Ellington, Wild Bill Davis, Paul Gonzalves, Johnny Hodges, Cootie Williams & many more of the Duke's late period members. 9 songs; all titles with the possible exception of Black Butterfly are likely unknown to all but the most thorough Ellington fans! *** The Duke Ellington Orchestra - Continuum (Sealed) - This 1974 recording was actually the first release by DE's son Mercer after Duke's passing. Band regulars include Harry Carney, & Cootie Williams. Other somewhat familiar names from late period Ellington include Mercer, Harold Ashby, Art Baron, Chuck Connors, & Harold Minerve. 15 songs: Harlem Air Shaft, Happy Go Lucky Local, Blue Serge, Jump For Joy, Black & Tan Fantasy, Jeep's Blues & more. *** Duke Ellington - Happy Birthday Volume 2 - This cd is from a 1953 Portland, Oregon dance date & continues the concert from volume 1 above. It includes Summertime, Sophisticated Lady, Caravan, Just Squeeze Me, Perdido & 5 more. The band includes Cat Anderson, Clark Terry, Ray Nance, Juan Tizol, Paul Gonzalves. Harry Carney & more. *** Duke Ellington - Happy Birthday Volume 4 - Although Laser Light is a budget label, they have issues tons of hard to find jazz! This cd is from a 1954 Portland, Oregon dance date. It includes Primping At The Prom, Satin Doll, Tulip Or Turnip, Honeysuckle Rose, Blue Moon & more. Laserlight 15786. $1.50
